Isolated cutaneous findings of systemic lupus erythematosus due to propylthiouracil

Propylthiouracil (PTU), used to treat thyroid dysfunctions such as GravesÂ’ disease, rarely induces lupus-like syndrome. A 52-year-old woman developed dermatological findings of systemic lupus erythematosus with malar rash, photosensitivity and discoid lupus erythematosus-like lesions, after 3 weeks of exposure to the drug.
